Dedicated to the memory of Dawn

Dawn was a people person who was full of fun and everyone got on with her. Even the nurses in recent times referred to her as a ‘sweetie.’ That being said, you knew where you stood with her! She loved chatting and if you were in trouble, she would be the first one there to help.

It all began for Dawn in Uplyme, in the cottage at the end of the viaduct as one of 6 children born to Gladys and Jack. Her siblings were John, Jean, Roy, Terry and Fay and we welcome Terry here today.
Dawn attended school in Axminster and after finishing here, she went to work at the Victoria Hotel. She met Douglas, a farmer, they married and had three children, Raymond, Jacqui and Nigel. Due to Douglas’ job the family moved around a lot mainly around the Taunton area, but finally settled in Uplyme in 1973.

After Douglas sadly passed away, Dawn went on to meet Maurice, who came down to the area with the Buffs. She later moved up to Leicester with him, they married and Dawn gained 3 stepsons; Andrew, Neil and Martin. In Leicester, she worked in a factory that made electronic components until retirement. She showed her kindness by cooking meals for an elderly neighbour. After 30 years in Leicester, Dawn and Maurice moved down to Piddle-Trent-Hyde and then went to Lyme Regis.

In her spare time, she enjoyed bingo, jigsaw puzzles, going out shopping but most of all, looking after her great great grandchildren Masion, Maddison and Autumn. Dawn was blessed with many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and adored them all. She was still looking after her great great grandchildren until Christmas.
